MAWS is an animal charity based in Maun in Botswana. Possibly one of the most beautiful areas in the world – at the bottom of the Okavango Delta. Wildlife on your doorstep, amazing sunsets and laid back lifestyle! The charity has been run on a purely voluntary basis for many years and has successfully spayed and neutered over 19 000 cats and dogs since 1998, and vaccinated against Rabies, Parvovirus and Distemper. This has made a significant difference to over 20 000 animals. We practice the CNVR policy (capture, neuter, vaccinate, return) in the communities surrounding the town and in outlying villages where we do outreach clinics. We have grown considerably over the years and now have a shelter too.   We need someone to be around every day to manage the clinic, the medications for the patients, be the continuity for the volunteer vets, oversee administrative duties such as ordering clinic supplies and dealing with the public who bring in animals daily with various ailments.

MAWS is looking for a dedicated, lively, flexible, pragmatic veterinary nurse with at least two years experience. You must have good clinical competence, bags of common sense and most definitely be a people person. Accommodation, food and the use of a small vehicle will be provided. We can afford a small salary of BWP5 000.00 per month on top of this (about $500 or 400 GB Pounds). As soon as we can secure regular funding it will be reviewed and increased. We would prefer someone to commit to at least two years for continuity as permits take a bit of effort to obtain, however we are happy to treat each application on a case by case basis.

Please contact Penelope Widmer (Chairman) for further information and the job specification. Penelope.widmer@gmail.com
