Accredited Veterinary Nurse Program

Welcome to the login page for the NZVNA Accredited Veterinary Nurse Programme

THE ACCREDITED VETERINARY NURSE PROGRAMME

The New Zealand Veterinary Nursing Association identified a need for recognition of an individual nurse’s competence, currency and dedication to the veterinary nursing profession.

In 2008 the NZVNA formulated a plan for Continuing Profession Development (CPD) to meet the requirements of New Zealand veterinary nurses who wished to maintain their professional currency, to increase their knowledge and skill levels, and to gain recognition for that work.

In 2010 the NZVNA, with the backing of the Veterinary Council of New Zealand, applied to the Government for registration of veterinary nurses.   Unfortunately this was not approved at that time.

NZVNA would now like to acknowledge those veterinary nurses who have continued to strive in their field by now changing the name of the Continuing Professional Development Scheme to The Accredited Veterinary Nurse Programme.

The criteria will remain the same but upon completion the successful veterinary nurse will have his/her name entered onto a register held by the NZVNA and published on the website and be entitled to wear an individually numbered NZVNA badge acknowledging them as Accredited Veterinary Nurses.   The badge will be recognised by colleagues, employers and  the public as a symbol of excellence. Maintenance of accreditation status is recommended annually.

This programme will commence at the beginning of 2012.
