UCOL’s Health and Sciences Faculty is seeking a highly motivated professional clinical supervisor for a permanent part-time position within their Veterinary Nursing Team on the Palmerston North campus.

The successful candidate will hold a Level 6 Veterinary Nursing qualification and have a minimum of two years clinical small animal veterinary nursing experience. This candidate would be experienced and competent in all aspects of veterinary nursing including but not limited to all aspects of anaesthetic monitoring, surgical and medical nursing. This candidate would also possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a vast range of personalities very well and possess excellent organisation skills. It would be a strong advantage if you had previous teaching experience and had completed the Certificate in Adult Teaching (Advanced) (CATA) or equivalent.

To fill this position we are looking for a suitable candidate who is capable of acting as clinical supervisor and lecturer. In this role you may spend some of the week as a clinical supervisor at our associated veterinary clinics teaching and assessing students on their competency in their clinical skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm are key to clinical teaching. In order to deliver the best programme to your students you will be expected to use effective teaching skills that meet the needs of a variety of students.

In addition there will be some classroom teaching, the subjects you may be teaching could include: anaesthesia, medical nursing, and surgical nursing; and may also include diagnostics, reception animal care and behaviour. This may include teaching clinical skills in simulated situations on campus.

Large Animal Technician  - Geraldine
