Small one-vet companion animal practice requires vet nurse to fit into a three nurse roster. The clinic is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.30pm, and 9.00am to 12.00pm on Saturday.

One year (maternity cover) full-time veterinary nursing position – Gisborne, NZ

We are looking for a qualified veterinary nurse to join our awesome team. Gisborne is a town with fantastic weather, stunning beaches and a relaxed lifestyle. We have great fishing, surfing, hunting, and tramping opportunities in our region, as well as fantastic wineries and cafes.

Our clinic is a privately-owned mixed animal practice, with a service area encompassing Gisborne city and the wider rural area from Wairoa to the East Cape. We have three small animal veterinarians, and five large animal veterinarians. Our current nursing team includes four full-time nurses and three part-time nurses.

The small animal caseload is around 60% working dogs and 40% pets. The cases we see in our clinic are varied and interesting, and our nurses have a real hands-on role with treatment planning and procedures. The clinic is a purpose built facility and is well equipped with a digital x-ray machine, ultrasound, Heskaview Dri-chem blood machine, IM3 dental machine, fluid pumps, and orthopaedic equipment.

The Applicant must:

• Have a recognised veterinary nursing qualification (Certificate/Diploma/Degree)
• Minimum two years full-time experience
• Have great communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
• Be passionate and motivated
• Work well as part of a team

Veterinary Services (HB) Ltd operates clinics in the Hawkes Bay, Dannevirke and Wairarapa areas. We require an experienced Veterinary Nurse to take up a part-time position within our great team in our Waipukurau clinic.

Ideally we are looking for a highly motivated individual who possesses the following attributes;

  • Minimum of 2-4 years post grad experience
  • Confident and competent with all aspects of nursing:
    • Surgery
    • Anaesthesia
    • Laboratory work
    • In-patient care and monitoring
  • Shows respect and communicates effectively with both colleagues and clients
  • Has had exposure to reception and retail sales

Usually a standard 8 hour day is worked with a set roster being shared with other staff between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday, and 8.00am to 12.30pm Saturday and Sunday. There is a requirement to be on-call as part of a shared roster.

Remuneration is in line with industry rates and will be determined by the skills and experience you bring to the organisation.

We have a maternity-cover veterinary nurse position available in 2021 from February to December. You will be working with a supportive, positive, small team in Taupo in a small animal focused clinic. This position will involve working closely with veterinarians and other team members, and will have a reception and hospital nurse focus.

We expect that you would be on call for a 1-4 after-hours weekend roster including 3 hours on a Saturday morning.

Ideally we would like a minimum of three years’ experience or a VN diploma.

Our clinical standards and attention to patient care are very high, and we expect that yours would be too.

The daily working hours are negotiable, the current staff member works a 9am-3pm day to work in with child care which we are open to. We also are open to a job-sharing position for this role, if you wanted to work 2-3 days a week in partnership with another suitable applicant.
