The Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Teaching Technician to join our team, in a full-time, permanent role.

Our undergraduate and post graduate teaching programmes include the Bachelor of Veterinary Science; Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, Bachelor of Sciences (animal based majors), Bachelor of AgriScience (animal based courses) and Masters of Veterinary Medicine. However, the main focus of the role will be teaching within the two undergraduate veterinary programmes. You will assist with teaching and assessment of students in conjunction with other staff in these laboratory and practical classes, and the marking of course work. You will also be responsible for the organisation, set-up running and clean-up of teaching laboratories and practicals.

A relevant bachelor's degree or higher level of education in Science; including, but not limited to, Veterinary Science, Veterinary Technology and AgriScience is preferred but experience teaching in clinical, laboratory and practical class settings is essential. You will need to have a passion for teaching, coupled with great communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Taranaki Veterinary Centre (TVC) has vacancies for two qualified full time veterinary nurses at our Stratford clinic. Duties include:

  • Admitting and checking all surgical cases.

The head nurse role will involve:

About Us

Barkes Corner Veterinary Clinic is a spacious, well equipped and purpose built veterinary hospital. We have a complete range of diagnostic, surgical and dental equipment, digital X-ray (including dental), ultrasound and a full laboratory with stem cell and blood bank capabilities. Double prep and surgical rooms are supplied by three consult rooms, in turn feeding from reception and hospital areas, individualised for cats and dogs.

The Opportunity:

This position covers all aspects of veterinary nursing, from assisting with a wide surgical case load, blood sampling and in house pathology, cannula placement, to animal handling and kennel cleaning. There is also a component of reception duties including answering client enquiries over the phone, updating patient records, making appointments and discharge of patients.

The position is permanent full time, and roster consists of 7 hr shifts (am or pm) across 5 days and 1 in every 3 Saturday mornings 9-12pm.

The position would suit a veterinary nurse with suitable qualifications and experience, or a nurse that is currently working towards certification/diploma
