The Gardens – Veterinary clinic & Retail centre

  • Full-time position for 40 hours per week as veterinary nurse, working with an experienced team of nurses.
  • Fixed-term position for 6 months, helping our team with a maternity leave cover position. Really good opportunity for someone to step in and help and see how we work!


  • Marshall & Pringle in Linwood – We have a full-time position (~38.5 h) available at our clinic and we have a team of 2 vets, 6 nurses, our dedicated front-of-house team of two and our lovely Team Leader.
  • Harewood – We have a full-time position (~40h) for an experienced nurse who can step into a more senior nursing role. You will be working in a larger team, made up of 4 Vets, 7 vet nurses, a dedicated front-of-house, a cattery team and our awesome Team Leader!
  • Barrington – A fixed-term maternity leave cover and part-time position as veterinary nurse, working 20 hours per week, from Monday – Thursday. The fixed-term will be for 12-months, from May 2018 – May 2019.


  • Taradale – We have a full-time position for a veterinary nurse to join us in our Taradale clinic. You will be working with a team of 5 vets, 9 nurses and a dedicated Team Leader!


  • Dinsdale
    • Full-time position, working 4 days per week and 1 in 7 weekends.
    • Fixed-term position – helping us cover a 6-month period for our team mate who has had to go overseas. You would be working 40 hours per week, form Monday-Friday

Full-time veterinary nurse required.

Blockhouse Bay Vet Centre is a long standing, independently owned, 100% small animal clinic located in a well-established suburb in West/Central Auckland. We are a part of our local community and have a passion for providing high quality care for our patients.

This is a full time role involving 35-40 hours per week with the role covering both medical and surgical nursing, customer and supplier relationships, and some reception work.

There are some rostered Saturday hours (shared between the nursing team) but there is no Sunday, after-hours or on-call work.

A successful candidate will work alongside a further 4 veterinary nurses and 5 veterinarians. The team is a mix of youth and experience that gives a nice balance to the overall clinic environment. The veterinary nursing team are encouraged to take lead roles within areas of the business and support is offered for continued education and professional development. Salary will be based on experience.

The position requires a diploma qualified veterinary nurse with ideally 1-2 years of previous veterinary nursing experience, however new or recent graduates with the right attitude and aptitude are also encouraged to apply for this position.

The clinic is busy, so good time management and a level head are essential. A sense of humour also helps. Punctuality and a sense of pride in one’s overall work are desired and a willingness to learn and develop as a veterinary nurse a must.

We are an exclusively Small Animal 1st opinion Practice with three Full time Vets, one part time Vet, and a Referral Surgeon.

We have a team of six Qualified Nurses. The role includes all aspects of veterinary nursing including surgical nursing, anaesthesia, managing hospitalised patients and client relations.
You must have a Veterinary Nursing qualification, and experience, to be considered for this role.

We are a 7 day a week practice, with rostered weekend work. You will be working with both the general practice and referral surgery, with most of the workload being General Practice work.

We have one partner practices, Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre in Cambridge, our newest facility providing service to our Equine clients.

You will need to be flexible with the hours you are able to work, and able to work overtime at short notice. We are a very busy Practice, so must be an excellent team player and hard worker.

Lecturer - Veterinary Nursing

UCOL's Health Science Faculty is seeking a highly motivated academic or a suitably qualified Veterinary professional who wishes to move into academia as a lecturer responsible for clinical in the New Zealand Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. This is a fixed term parental leave position based at the Palmerston North Campus.

The New Zealand Diploma in Veterinary Nursing qualifies you as a Veterinary Nurse. It also opens the door for its graduates to a broad range of animal health careers - from vet clinics, zoos, animal shelters, pet shops, wildlife parks, laboratories to agricultural and animal health sales.

As the Lecturer responsible for clinical in this programme you will be naturally inspiring, bringing a passion and love of this career path which will flow through your programme delivery and guidance within the class. As a lecturer responsible for clinical you will spend most of your time at our associated vet clinics supervising and assessing students on their clinical skills. In addition there will be teaching clinical skills in simulated situations on campus. There may be the opportunity to share the clinical teaching role and have some of your time doing classroom teaching.

The subjects you will be teaching will be: anaesthesia, medical and surgical nursing; and may include diagnostics, reception animal care and behaviour.
Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm are key to clinical teaching. In order to deliver the best programme to your students you will be expected to use effective teaching skills that meet the needs of a variety of students. You will have a Veterinary Nursing Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent. It would be a strong advantage if you had at least two years industry experience. Previous teaching experience and completion of the Certificate in Adult Teaching (Advanced) (CATA) or equivalent would be of benefit to students.
